For more than 90 years, the name Schmidt has been synonymous with making roads and runways safe for travel. Schmidt was established in 1920 when Alfred Schmidt Sr. opened a car repair workshop in St. Blasien, Germany, specializing in snow clearing equipment including plows and sweepers. In the 1950's, Schmidt increasingly expanded its product range by introducing machines for cleaning and clearing traffic areas. Just a few years later, they were providing their multi-purpose machines to major airports throughout the world.
Today, Schmidt, as a brand of the ASH Group, continues to provide the most technologically- and environmentally-advanced winter maintenance equipment to government, municipal, and airport fleets around the world. Schmidt’s journey to North America began in earnest in October of 2015 when Aebi-Schmidt Holding Group out of Zurich, Switzerland, purchased the US-based Swenson Products in Lindenwood, Illinois, and Meyer Products, located in Cleveland, Ohio.
With the acquisition of Meyer and Swenson, Aebi Schmidt Holding now has an established network of more than 400 sales and servicing distributors; two manufacturing and parts distribution facilities; and an experienced team of US-based managers.
